Vanessa Berastain (she/her/ella) has called San Ramon home since 1992 when she moved to the USA from her native Peru. She graduated from the Leadership San Ramon Valley class of 2016. She is a longtime local volunteer and education advocate having served in multiple volunteer positions in the parent-led organizations her children attended. She served as president of the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs and chair of the Inclusion and Diversity Committee, the Parent & Community Concerns Committee, and the Parenting Conference.

Vanessa’s work in the community includes supporting the City of San Ramon by hosting a Multicultural Festival during the 15th annual Art in the Park, and later as chair of the city-wide Culture in the Community Celebration for the City of San Ramon’s 150th anniversary. Her current volunteer work includes service on the Boards of Leadership San Ramon Valley, San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs, and the steering committee of the San Ramon Valley Diversity Coalition and the City of San Ramon Culture in the Community event. As an immigrant, she has a special affinity for outreach and inclusion of families from diverse cultures and backgrounds in the San Ramon Valley community.

Vanessa graduated from the Instituto San Ignacio de Loyola in San Isidro, Peru with a degree in Computer Analysis and Programming. She joined the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation in August 2017 as their Executive Director. Vanessa and her husband Antonio are the proud parents of two grown children who attended schools in the SRV Unified School District.
