Jen Tejada is currently serving as Dean of the San Ramon Campus of Diablo Valley College, since January of 2019. Prior to that, Jen has been a full-time faculty member at the San Ramon Campus since 1991, teaching Public Speaking, Persuasion and Interpersonal Communication classes at both campuses of Diablo Valley College, San Ramon and Pleasant Hill, in the Communication Studies department.
During that time, she has served at SRC as department chair for a cumulative 18 years and as division chair for 3 years. She was responsible for creating and coordinating the DVC Program for Adult College Education (PACE) program and served as the grant administrator for an Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI) grant focused on recruiting and supporting students in the 25 year and older age demographic. As SRC Dean, Jen has been responsible for growing the enrollment, adding new courses to the schedule and creating new programs such as the schedule bundles for new students and bringing a Food Program for food insecure students to the campus. Jen has contributed to DVC’s accreditation self-study report, Guided Pathway initiatives, and is serving as co-chair of the Program Review Committee. One of her favorite responsibilities is helping promote SRC events and guest speakers and to support strategies and processes that increase equitable outcomes for disproportionately impacted student groups. She loves helping faculty bring noted authors and experts to campus, both live and via webinars, to enhance the intellectual and cultural experience for students.
Jen also serves on the Board of the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce. She is a long-time Bay Area resident and attended DVC and San Francisco State University, earning a BA and a MA in Communication Studies. Jen and her husband Mario live in Pleasant Hill and have 5 adult children and 7 grandchildren.
